Ever Misunderstand Something?

Elijah is my eight year old, he is at the age where we are letting him do more on his own. Simple stuff like pick his on clothes out, pour his own drink, drive to the store for milk(just kidding Grandma). We have made the jump from bath to shower it's one of the great passages of manhood. This is what went down the other day:

Dad: Hey are you good in there?

Elijah: Yeah, I am just washing my hair.

Dad:(Peaking in to see that all is well, seeing Elijah washing his hair and scrubbibg his shoulders with a vengeance)

Dad: You should use soap on your body not shampoo.

Elijah: No, look it's says Head and Shoulders

(Disclaimer: someone in the flood house may have to use such a shampoo to control a slight dandruff issue, I...I mean that person will remain nameless in this reenactment of the current events)

Dad: Short explanation of the product name verses the products purpose.

Elijah: OOOOH. giggle

I love it when my kids get a little confused on stuff like that. It's really easy to do. So hear is the preachers twist, we can pull a spiritual truth out of nothing.

How many time do you get confused on the things God is calling you to?

When God pokes his head into the shower(Metaphorically speaking....I hope...eeee) and tries to give some clarification do you listen?

I think that God is ok when we misunderstand, the issue is when we refuse to correct.

I told Her to knock it off!

She is disobedient to an extreme. I have told her to stop growing countless times but she chooses to ignore the vast wisdom located in her fathers melon. The BrynMister will be 5 soon her birthday is on December 26th which was quite the Christmas present.

She brings much laughter to the flood house hold my favorite is when she surprises her self with her own burps in the middle of words....stinking hilarious.

Motivation to Lead PT. 5 Fruit From Service

This is the fifth and final installment of the leadership series. I actually have one more post I want to do with it to show how it all falls together in this wonderful circle of life.(Are you singing the Lion King song right now........me too!)

Being that it has been so spread out I figured if you wanted to catch up you could. Read these and you will get the whole idea(or skip it and make up your own) PT. 1, PT. 2, PT. 3, PT. 4.

Results motivate, there is no way to get around that. Nothing in life causes me to lose steam faster than seeing nothing happen. My wife makes this stuff called friendship bread. A giant thank you to the Amish, it is the yummiest stuff I have ever had...seriously. The process stinks, you leave it on the counter for like fourhundred days and then each day you have to do something new to get it ready. It takes forever. F..O..R..E..V..E..R.. I myself would never be able to get through the process for a few reasons 1. impatients 2. forgetfulness. I would never be able to wait that long for something to evolve into bread, and I would forget that I was doing it around the second day.(Thank God for wives with a memory longer than a second) When this deal is done it comes out of the oven and the smell hits your nose the first thing I want to know is when will happen again.

When we are involved in leadership the payoff is when we see fruit. Our fruit is lives that have been changed, challenged, and channeled in a direction that betters them and the people around them. I love to see people grasp something new, ssucceed in a new way, choose to live different. The connection that motivates us is that some how some way we were used to make a differance in someones life. Our involvement was important, not in a self-serving way but in a sense that we have purpose and it really matters if we lead.

The greatest motivator is results or fruit, at times though the hardest thing to achieve or see is results or fruit, but when it happens when you see how good it is in the end you will always ask the question how soon until I can do this again.

Lead with perseverance, it is the only way to see fruit.
